Ten Days of Ashram Life, Practice, and Living India
December 3-12 | Yoga Vidya Gurukul Ashram, India.
Live inside a traditional Indian ashram for ten days. Practice daily. Follow a supportive rhythm. Go through a guided inner process. Rest, reconnect, and experience India as a living spiritual culture.

Ten Days of Ashram Life, Practice, and Living India

This retreat combines committed yogic practice with space to slow down, recharge, enjoy nature, and explore sacred places in the region. It is deep, supportive, and human, allowing progress to unfold alongside simplicity,  and shared life.

We follow the natural rhythm of the ashram: early mornings, mantra chanting, daily yoga practice, karma yoga, nourishing meals, time to rest, and shared conversation.

During the retreat, we guide a clear and lived process that explores the main aspects of our being: body, mind, energy, heart, wisdom, and purpose. Through daily practice, teachings, reflection, and shared inquiry, we explore how these aspects are connected and how they influence one another in daily life. The focus is practical and experiential, allowing insight, balance, and vitality to develop in a grounded and natural way.

We stay at Yoga Vidya Gurukul, a peaceful ashram surrounded by fields, mountains, a lake, and open sky. The atmosphere supports both inner work and relaxation, with space to swim, walk, rejuvenate, and simply be.

India is an active part of the experience. During the retreat we visit Trimbakeshwar Temple, spend time in Nashik, explore ancient caves, and enjoy the color, spirit, and living culture of the region.

This retreat brings together committed practice, meaningful process, and the joy of being immersed in India’s spiritual landscape.

Is it for you?

This retreat is for people who want to step out of their usual rhythm and dedicate time to practice, reflection, and living yoga in a traditional ashram setting.

It is suited for those who are curious to explore how body, mind, energy, heart, wisdom, and purpose connect in daily life.

It is also for those who are drawn to India as a living spiritual culture, who enjoy simplicity, nature, and shared life.

This retreat is open to all levels. What matters is openness, willingness to practice, and respect for the ashram environment and the group.

"I found something at Vagabond Temple, something that was inside me all this time. Kobi and Pazit managed to create a place where you can deepen into your practice, be in peace and still stay connected with your world, in a more balanced way. I spent some time at the Temple 5 years ago, and it still brings the light of that place into my life, it all still resonates to me and comes into my practice. Kobi and Pazit also keep connection with you afterwards, so you can have a very long-lasting effect, you can really feel the support of the community. Highly recommend!"🙏

Daily Schedule:

Each day follows a clear and steady rhythm that supports practice, presence, and integration. The structure allows the work to deepen naturally over time.

Morning

05:00 – 06:00 | Wake up and morning tea
The day begins quietly. You wake up with the light, sip warm tea, and allow the body and mind to arrive gently into the day.

06:00 – 06:30 | Mantra chanting
Chanting opens the day by aligning breath, sound, and attention. It sets a steady tone and connects individual practice to a shared rhythm.

06:30 – 08:00 | Morning yoga practice
The morning practice builds strength, stability, sensitivity, and alignment. Movement and breath awaken the body, balance the nervous system, and prepare the ground for deeper exploration.

08:00 – 09:00 | Karma yoga
Simple daily tasks become part of the practice. Karma yoga brings awareness into action and supports a sense of contribution and community.

09:15 – 10:00 | Breakfast
A nourishing vegetarian meal prepared with locally sourced ingredients, eaten in silence. The silence supports digestion, presence, and simplicity.

Midday and Afternoon

10:15 – 11:45 | Morning class
Meditation, teaching, and reflection connected to the core themes of the retreat. We explore the main aspects of our being, body, mind, energy, heart, wisdom, and purpose, and the living relationship between them as they appear in practice and daily life.

12:30 – 13:00 | Lunch
A grounding meal that supports digestion, energy, and balance, followed by rest.

13:30 – 16:00 | Free time
A spacious part of the day for rest, reflection, nature, swimming, or getting Ayurvedic treatment. Some people sit quietly, others enjoy conversation. This openness supports both integration and connection.

16:00 – 17:45 | Afternoon practice and active meditation
This session deepens the work through Kundalini Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Therapy, and special workshops. The focus shifts toward emotional balance, energy flow, and inner listening.

 Evening

18:45 – 19:15 | Havan (traditional fire ceremony)
The fire ceremony creates a moment of transition. It is a time for presence, intention, and letting go, held within an ancient ritual space.

19:30 – 20:00 | Dinner
Evening meal, supporting rest and quietness toward the end of the day.

20:15 – 21:00 | Evening sessions and Yoga Nidra (on some evenings)
Some evenings include questions and answers, stories, shared reflections, or Yoga Nidra. These gatherings offer space to digest the day, connect, and close the evening gently.

22:00 | Silence and Sleep
The day ends in silence. Good night.

Excursions and Sacred Places

The retreat also includes a few excursions that open the experience beyond the ashram and offer a direct encounter with the spiritual life of the region.

One morning, we wake up early and travel to Trimbakeshwar Temple, arriving before sunrise. This is one of the most important Shiva temples in India. Being there in the early morning hours allows us to experience the intensity, devotion, movement, and rhythm of an active Indian temple.

On another day, we visit Nashik, a spiritual city with an active temple culture and local markets. We walk through temples, spend time in the city, and experience the everyday life, colors, and movement of the area.

We also visit nearby caves that were once used for meditation and retreat. We spend some quiet time there, allowing the environment to support stillness and reflection.

ABOUT US:

We are Kobi and Pazit, a husband and wife team, sharing life, practice, and teaching.

Our path began through work with people facing emotional and mental challenges, which led us to seek a deeper understanding through spiritual practice, study, and lived experience in different traditions and cultures.

Over time, this shaped a grounded and practical way of connecting body, mind, energy, heart, and daily life.

Our way of teaching is experiential and rooted in practice. We guide the process with clarity and structure, while staying attentive to the human reality of each participant and the group as a whole. This allows depth to unfold while keeping the space supportive, responsive, and compassionate.

In 2011, we founded Vagabond Temple as a space for practice, exploration, and community. Since then, we have been guiding groups, trainings, and retreats around the world, supporting people in developing clarity, presence, and a more integrated way of living.

This retreat reflects how we live and teach today. We guide the process closely, share the daily rhythm of the ashram with the group, and hold the retreat as a shared experience rooted in practice, attention, and care.

The Ashram

The retreat takes place at Yoga Vidya Gurukul, a traditional yogic ashram set in a quiet rural area surrounded by fields and mountains.

Accommodation is simple and comfortable, with shared rooms of two to four people. The simplicity of the space supports rest, focus, and a sense of shared life.

The ashram grounds include open spaces, nature paths, a lake, and a swimming pool. During free time, there is room to rest, walk, swim, or simply enjoy the surroundings.

There is also an option to receive Ayurvedic treatments at the ashram. These treatments are offered on site and can be booked for an additional cost, depending on availability.

Some practices during the retreat take place outdoors, including sessions at the top of a nearby hill. Practicing at sunrise or around sunset offers a different quality of presence and connection with the landscape.

While the ashram is secluded, it is close enough to nearby towns and temples to allow excursions and contact with the wider region.
